I&#039;ve been shooting bonsai videos for two years, and when I want to show a close-up of a plant detail, we always zoom in on it because a cut would disrupt the instructional narrative, and disorient the viewer.  I notice that news cameramen also use the zoom feature.  Zoom shots give a newsy, documentary feeling to a video, while cuts to a closeup of a distant object give a more filmed or produced feel.</description>
