What's the quality of a DVD conversion?
Honestly, pretty darn good - but don't take our word for it. Check out the samples below. All videos are from real customers' home video DVDs, converted to MP4 format, and uploaded to YouTube. For even better examples (that bypass YouTube's processing), request our sample files.

How do I know your files will work for me?
We provide samples of all our file types so you can try them out on your computer, phone, tablet, or software, or via a USB drive connected to your smart TV, streaming box, or digital media device. Just visit our Contact page to request the files.
Is this legal?
Yes! DVDs that were created from home video tapes or film by Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Costco, Sam's Club, iMemories, YesVideo, Southtree, Legacybox, drugstore services, big box stores, your local video shop, or friendly transfer geek are NOT copy protected. You can check any of these companies' FAQ and terms of use pages. Most clearly state that customers are free to make copies of their DVDs and that no copy protection exists on the discs.
What kinds of DVDs can Timeless DVD convert?
We can convert any non-copyrighted DVD, including any DVD that is comprised of home videos. That includes any DVD that was transferred by the large transfer companies, such as Walmart, Walgreens, CVS, Costco, Sam's Club, YesVideo, iMemories, Southtree, Legacybox, drugstore services, big box stores, or your local video shop. Most of these services are very careful to not transfer copyrighted content, so they're OK for us as well.
Are there any kinds of DVDs that Timeless DVD can't convert?
We absolutely, positively DO NOT accept copyrighted DVDs of any kind. That includes any DVD movie or TV shows purchased in a store that are in your movie library. We cannot convert copyrighted DVDs because doing so breaks DRM (Digital Rights Management), the digital copy protection present on most DVDs, which is illegal. (If the law changes, as it did years ago for CDs, we'll let you know!) Because of DRM, Timeless DVD can ONLY convert DVDs that are not copyrighted or copy-protected.
We also do not currently convert PAL or otherwise non-NTSC video (foreign formats) or Blu Ray discs. Finally, we retain the right to refuse, at our discretion, to convert home video DVDs that are explicit or objectionable.
How do I watch my DVDs digitally on my TV?
First, order MKVs or ISO files. We are currently working on a series of blog posts that address all the ways you can set this up. It's our passion project! Stay tuned!
What file type should I order?
Figure out what you want to do with your DVD's video. Do you want to share it online? Edit it? Watch it on your TV digitally? Or simply ensure it's preserved for the future? Answering that question will determine which file type is best for you. You can also read extensive information on our Order page regarding file types (expand the "How do I pick the right file type?" section).
Why are MP4s only listed for sharing? I can watch them on my TV too.
Many file types have crossover purposes. Yes, an MP4 can also be watched easily through many devices. However, unlike the file types we recommend for watching, an MP4 is compressed video - it is not the original DVD quality. MP4 was developed as an online file type, and that's how we recommend you use it. We recommend file types based on their best use, not their only use. If you want MP4s for watching on your TV instead of the MKV or ISO file types, we won't stop you!
